1h 50min | Director: Joseph Sargent
Alfred Blalock (Alan Rickman), an accomplished and well respected cardiologist and his African American assistant, Vivien Thomas (Mos Def) partner up to find a cure for a medical debacle referred to as “blue babies”. When Vivien’s mentor acknowledges his skills as a talented surgeon, he is catapulted into the front lines of medical research only to have the credit for his invaluable role in medical breakthroughs to be put in jeopardy. Despite the scrutiny that Alfred must navigate through, a touching and heartfelt story of the underdog emerges while the racial and social stigmata of the day is addressed.
